Today I started school, I was kind of scared and nervous at first but then I got over it. It was weird seeing a chalkboard in the class, I haven't seen one since elementary or middle school. Anyways, I have three classes Mondays and Wednesdays, I start with Catalan at 3-4:30 pm, España y Europa: orgien y evolución at 6-7:30 pm and then Historia de España moderna y contemporánea from 7:30-9 pm. To be honest, these classes were not what I expected at all. First of all, in the Catalan class, the teacher came in speaking in Catalan instead of slowly introducing it. She began talking as if we understood and on top of that, I couldn’t even understand her handwriting! Thank god, I have a girl from my program in the class who knows Catalan fluently that can help me. In my second class, the professor was showing a slideshow of pictures and gave us a paper, where we had to guess the answers to questions based on what we saw in the pictures. After we all guessed, she actually went over all the questions and answered them correctly for us. This has to be my favorite class so far and her handwriting is perfectly legible. In my last class, my professor just talks and talks as I’m trying to take notes in Spanish, which is kind of hard since I already struggle with writing in Spanish. He doesn’t write notes on the board, just certain points so it’s hard trying to keep up. I can already see that this semester might be a little difficult, but this is what I signed up for.
